Mission Statement
TNSTEP is a statewide agency that provides information and training for families of children and young adults with disabilities and mental health needs. TNSTEP provides accurate, timely, and relevant information about special education rights, equal access to quality education for children with disabilities, and connections to community resources.
In addition to providing FREE special education-related assistance to families to help them advocate for their children, TNSTEP:
-Trains educators, medical professionals, and school resource officers on how to support children with disabilities
-Empowers youth with disabilities to find their voice and make their own choices about their lives after high school
-Listens to families’ concerns about their child’s education and provides one-on-one services so every family feels supported and informed
