Kim James, Executive Director


Kim James serves as the Executive Director for the Young Leaders Council. With more than 15 years of extensive community relations, program management, donor engagement, and communications experience, Kim is a graduate of Fisk University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in financial economics before obtaining a master’s degree in business administration from Tennessee State University in 2003. She is the 2018 recipient of the Women in Leadership of Central Illinois’ Woman Leader of the Year Award and a 2018 graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School.

Rachel Reyes, Program Manager


Rachel Reyes serves as the Program Manager for Young Leaders Council, overseeing the admissions process, class scheduling and program communications. She is from Nashville, TN where she graduated from Lipscomb University with a degree in Strategic Communication and Public Relations. She currently resides in Huntsville, AL with her husband, and enjoys traveling to unique places, exploring new restaurants, and hosting people in her home.

Kate Watts, Operations Manager


Kate Watts serves the Young Leaders Council as a part-time operations manager. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she has spent the last decade in Nashville working in the non-profit and higher education policy sectors. Kate earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science and women’s studies from Denison University and a master’s degree in education from Vanderbilt University. Kate completed the YLC program as a member of the Junior League class in 2014.
