Although liver disease is among the ten major causes of death in the United States, there was no national voluntary health agency devoted exclusively to combating liver diseases until 1976, when the American Liver Foundation was formed. The Mid-South Division was founded in the late 1990’s in Memphis and eventually moved to Nashville to serve the entire state, in addition to Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana to promote education, advocacy, support services and research for prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. Read more about the organization here. The Mid-South Division is looking for a board member with marketing skills.
